Here's a band called Brand X (Phil Collins on drums, Percy Jones on fretless, John Goodsall on guitar and Robin Lumley on keyboards) playing a tune called Algon. This is some serious fusion rock/funk/jazz, whatever you want to call it. I hate naming genres anymore (especially on music like this), but that's what they call it!
anyway, this is some really interesting bass work by Percy Jones, always loved his style, very unique, very nice sound. if you're a fretless lover or fusion lover in general, this may tickle your fancy.
anyone else into it? |

| | | | Brand X is great. I love playing "Nuclear Burn" for people and ask them, "Who do you think is drumming?" They are stunned when I tell them it's Phil Collins. Phil did some of his best drumming with Genesis, but he played THE best with Brand X. Just my 2 cents... |

| | | | Percy was the reason I got my first fretless Wal back in '83.
Phil's drumming was great with Brand X, as well as the other drummers they had. Too bad Phil didn't do like Steve Smith and go back to a more artistic endeavor after making his big bucks. |

+1 on the Another Green World comment, but he only plays on two (Three?) tracks on that album, so it's only worth checking out if you're also an Eno fan. |

And a huge +1 to all the comments about Percy, and Phil Collins with this band.
At the time, Percy was probably just as much of an influence on me and some others, fretless wise, as Jaco. And that's saying a hell of a lot.
