Did a search and it didn't yield anything. Sorry if it's been asked.

Any idea how the bass in this track was recorded? Wondering if it was direct or mic'd amp...

Thank you, collective knowledge of TalkBass!

An old school bass with flatwounds, and either a mic'd Ampeg B-15 or direct through a tube preamp would probably get you there.

i put some string mutes on one of my jazzes, and played with the tone knob almost all the way down, maybe 3/4, and then middle on the bass and 3/4 the way up on the mids, middle highs on my amp.

Not answering your ?, but FYI the new issue (#65) of Tape Op has an interview with Bjorn Yttling of PB&J.

Must say that song is one of the catchiest I've ever heard. Couldn't get that d@mn whistling outta my head for a long time afterward.

I was listening on sirius when they were counting down the top 100 songs of 2007, they were saying how much money they made off of that one song due to clubs playing it so much and royalties being made. They never have to write again if they choose not to... The power of a one hit wonder .
