So a friend asked me to start playing some live shows with her. She is a piano player with a great voice. Her stuff reminds me of Tori Amos (what little I have heard from her).
I would like to prepare for upcomming shows/sessions by listening to some Vocal/piano, bass, drum stuff. Anyone can recommend some records to listen to? Any particular Tori record w/ JMJ on it that I should check out? Feel free to suggest anything in that general direction. I have been listening to a lot of the stuff Juan Alderete does with Lisa Pompineau and Big Sir and I dig what he does with her voice... Of course I also have been spinning Joni Mitchell w/ Jaco too!!! I am not looking for chop heavy busy stuff but really supportive bass piano stuff (oh and I am diggin the bass work on Diary of Alicia Keys as well). |
