Can anyone recommend some "essential" Pino recordings that a bass player should have in his collection? Thanks in advance.

Paul Young - "From Time To Time" (Greatest Hits): great representations of his fretless Stingray playing

John Mayer Trio - "Try!": live, perfect P-Bass w/flatwound tone grooving perfectly with Steve Jordan

D'Angelo - "Voodoo ": neo-soul perfection

I'd say those are three good ones to start with. I'm also very partial to his playing on David Gilmour's "About Face" and Phil Collins' "...But Seriously" which includes the excellent "I Wish It Would Rain Down."

Gary Numan's I, Assassin from 1982 was a show case for Pino's fretless creativity. He had a huge landscape to work with and he did awesome job. Chris
Slade on drums.

Live, this tour was an amazingly powerful groove machine. Pino's fretless music man was, for the most part, the only stringed instrument on the stage.

Joan Armitrading used Pino on the Shouting Stage. There's some solo Pete Townsend albums as well.
