Please recommend me some vintage funky Anthony Jackson...

I'm just starting to get into AJ. It's easy to find his discography online, but he's done so many sessions that I'm not sure where to start. I want some vintage 70's funked out playing. If you recommend an album, please let me know know which songs he plays on because I'll probably be purchasing from iTunes. Thanks guys, I knew I could count on you.

Well, two of the most obvious ones are "For The Love Of Money" (be sure to get the full-length 7:00 version) and "Give The People What They Want", both by the O'Jays.

Chaka Kahn, 'We Got Each other,' 'All Night's All Right.'

Try any of the first three Chaka Khan albums. He doesn't play on every track, but if it's not him then it's either Will Lee, Marcus Miller, Willie Weeks, Mark Stevens or Abraham Laboriel. There's also some righteous keyboard bass by Greg Phillinganes. So it's a win-win to get the whole records.

Also check out the live DVD - Grover Washington Jr: In Concert. Some truly righteous playing there, along with Steve Gadd. More recently, check out the Michel Petrucianni DVD 'Trio Live In Stuttgart', with Anthony Jackson and Steve Gadd.

By all means, get the first three Chaka Khan solo CDs. A favorite of mine is "Our Love's in Danger" from Naughty.
