The Police "Everyone Stares" - Anyone got it?

This seems like an interesting dvd: Old footage filmed by Stewart Copeland on Super 8 with additional voice over commentary by Copeland. There aren't many documentaries like this out there.

Anyone got it? Seen it? Opinions?

I've got it. I've only had the chance to watch the first half hour but it's great so far. There are some cheesy video effects which are typical of a noob playing with all the bells and whistles on a new piece of gear but Copeland's narration is hilarious and the footage is great.

I don't have it. But I have seen it. There is some great stuff. I particulary enjoyed the part of Stewart doing commentary on the gig from behind the kit . . during the show. Great stuff.

if you're a Police fan you'll love it. Stewart is hilarious, especially when he's talking about his love of gear, and eventually getting roadies to shift it all around.

It's also a bit of an eye-opener about touring, about mad screaming crowds and trooping off to exotic locations to shoot your next video. And there's one video in the snow, which is all from Stew's/camera perspective.

The battles with Sting are downplayed a bit, but it you look close you'll see Stewart's got F**K OFF C**T written/pasted on his toms, which according to an interview elsewhere was purely aimed at the Sting.

And Andy is sometimes dementedly funny.

It's a great look at a band on its way up. Very entertaining. It's like two documentaries in one when you watch it with the commentary with Stewart and Andy. You can sense the growing personal animosity growing between Sting and Stewart, but the respect that they have for each other as musicians is obvious. In the commentary regarding the recording of "Ghost in the Machine", Stewart is marveling at how quickly Sting picked up the sax, how he never played it before the sessions, and then there he is playing it on record and playing it well.

The ending with them handcuffed to the building in Paris is classic, especially Sting's quote as he stares into Stewart's camera.

+1 The commentary is pretty interesting, but kind of boring - like watching home movies with people pointing out "hey that's so-and-so! I wonder what they're doing now".

I have just finished reading "One Train Later" by Andy Summers - a fabulously well written, and warts and all revelation of a book - you gotta get yourselves a copy!!!

+1.. Great book, even if you're not a die-hard Police fan.
