The original has FUNK & SOUL, whereas Claypool's version was more like a mechanical version of FUNK.
Simply putting the right notes in the right place, can fall flat if you don't FEEL it.

Side note: Yeah, the original has more funk, but mainly, it was the fact that claypool was doing it is why it was "overwhelming" it wasn't something I had come to expect from him, though there is more funk in the original, I like the tone Les is getting more, but thats just me!
