Post shredding mp3's!

Sign in to disble this ad
this is probably the trickiest written bassline (unison riff with guitar in this case) I've had to play with a band so far-
what's funny is that this kind of metal riffing is incredibly out-of-fashion in the UK-
great fun to play, though, - especially the scale rundown at the end- so what the hell.
it's still in the practice stage- my excuse for sloppiness in this clip is I'm still getting to grips with DGCF tuning, and the open-string pulloffs are very tricky on my rehearsal-fave Hohner B2A with a neck not quite as straight as I'd like, and string spacing tighter than I'd like as well- I'll be using a P bass to record it.

let's hear those shredding clips!

Same way that you attach an image, the .mp3 just has to be under 340kb
so, either REALLY bad compression, or a short clip.

p.s. good to see you back zulu

Shredding? Does this count?

For those of you who are impatient, just skip forward to about 3:15 into the song for the super-insane ending. It's a video file, not just audio.

Echinda's Arf with Mike Keneally

It's a real media file, so you'll need RealPlayer to view it.

update- the unison riff has sped up a bit and is now in standard tuning.
it's easier on a wider neck (Dearmond jetstar longscale here)-
slowly getting there.

an odd thing is that the guitarist was initially surprised I could play it fingerstyle- but I actually find this sort of thing impossible with a pick- especially the open string pull-offs and string-skipping bits.
