Time to have a little fun.

There is so much material out on YouTube now; one can really search out some amazing content.

Here, with just over 10k views (not so well known), is my head and shoulders all time favorite recording; for a whole bunch of reasons. I spend most of my time playing cover music to entertain people, but this is the genre where my heart truly is. Too bad that modern Big Band just has so little literature and performance opportunities. People just don't know what they are missing out on.

Enjoy!

What is your favorite link out there and why?

This is not necessarily bass related.

You may not like the band, the song, or yourself, but you got to admire the lighting engineer/designer. This is almost seizure inducing.

also not bass related... but I love surfing youtube for live and intimate clips from old and new favorites to really get a feel of their talents beyond the CDs. I also dig it for tracking down new artists to listen to.

Here is my current favorite musician... and I would not know of her if it wasn't for youtube. I heard a song from Zero 7 in the movie "Garden State" and started searching them out one night. I fell in love with the work of 2 of their lead singers... here are some of my favorite clips from one them.

tina dico you know better live at Show Me How to Play - YouTube
Tina Dico at Roskilde Festival (4 of 4) - YouTube
Zero7 The Space Between (Glastonbury 2004) 8of14 - YouTube
Tina Dico & Helgi Jonsson - No Time To Sleep (detektor.fm Akustik-Session) - YouTube
Tina Dico - Love All Around 2009-12-01 Go Morgen Danmark - YouTube
[DK] Medina & Tina Dickow - Live At Zulu Awards 2010 [HQ] - YouTube

and even the earliest clip of her solo stuff (one of the first 'gigs' as an original material artist from 1998ish)

Michael Manring - Selene - DVD - www.candyrat.com - YouTube
Marco Rodi -- Undiscovered Color - YouTube

These aren't my favorite per say, but that is defenitly my favorite manring video. And There are SOOOOOOO many rodi videos that i just chose the one that got me hooked on him. Plus, these are just solo videos, I haven't even dipped into the grooves.

These first two videos were some of the very first I saw on youtube, and caused me to fall in love with that site.

Stevie Wonder: 1-2-3 Sesame Street - YouTube
I love how the kids are dancing like crazy getting down to something they have no idea is some of the sickest music they will ever hear!

These three NEVER get old:
John Entwistle Acoustic Bass solo - YouTube
John Entwistle"The Ox"bass solo 5:15 [High Definition] HD - YouTube
THE BEST - Fanfare For The Common Man - YouTube This one is queued up perfectly for you, but I recommend checking out the whole video anyway, some amazing ripping on all instruments, but nothing like this solo.

Great!

Speaking of Sesame Street (fav show for me) I always loved this segment that they showed. The audio seems a bit out of sync, which lessens the effect, but still cracks me up.
