Post Your Random Jam Goodness

We all have them, those spontaneous jams, usually in the key of E .

One rule, it needs to be unplanned an unrehearsed. Let's see whatcha got!

I'll start things off with this gem from our last rehearsal and see if this thread catches on...

Gear was Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub (Fralin pups)> La Bella 760FX flats > Oxfuzz Bass, Mojo Hand Cream Pie > '78 SVT > Mid 70's Ampeg 810

The ampeg was bridged between the two channels. All controls at noon with the exception of bass on channel one which was around 9 o'clock. Channel one volume at 10:30 and channel two volume at 11 o'oclock. Oxfuzz was set to a very mild fuzz and the cream pie was set with a slight volume boost with added presence and a bit of bass cut to keep things under control. Nothing too sophisticated but it works. Who says flats can't cut through?

The guitar and bass were recorded with SM57s right up against the cabs, the drums were mic'd with two peavey mics. It all went into a TASCAM 4 track tape recorder, which I then mixed with some minor EQ tweaks. All that went into Sony Soundforge and converted in 256kps MP3.

Post whatever clips you got, it's always interesting to hear what people are up to.

Thanks for all that info, really helpful to know how people get the sound they get. Nice tone, really!

Here is my effort. Have You Met Miss Jones. LMII with EQ at noon, VPF and VLE both at 9:00, Epifani PS 112 cab, also had a little bit of compression using my BBE Opto-stomp. MIM fretless jazz, new formula Fender 9050L flats. First half of song both pups full, solo and thereafter bridge pup only.

Very nice. I love how your lower notes have a little grunt and a hint of aggressiveness, jazz bass growl. The bass really sits well. Considering we used very different gear our bass sounds are quite similar. But yours has this pillowy feel, but think it's probably your superior technique and feel more than anything.

It reminds me of some of Sleep's stuff, with some good variation.

this is sick. kind of a bluesy/funky thing. Nice tone also. I wish I could record the daily jams I have with a drummer friend, but its hard to record when you have to pretent to be practicing scales

Here's something me and two guys did a while ago. Takes a bit to get going, the drummer was relatively new.

http://soundcloud.com/kingofprusa/20...2-improv-jam-1

I was playing a G&L L-1000 with an Eden WT400 thru a nicer ampeg 15.

Forceps Studio basement jams!

Forceps Studio Jam, Vol 1! on SoundCloud

This was a jam in my studio over Christmas break! Some friends from Austin, TX came up and showed us what they learned, namely how to sizzle and fry all over a custom shop Telecaster! Everything recorded live, all at once, no dubs!

Bass Gear:
Yamaha BB3000S
ss/bs Team Awesome Fuzz Machine (kicks everything off!)
Yorkville XS400 bass head
Bergantino 215 (w/added 6" midrange attenuator)

Keep the jam links coming!

I just got my OxFuzz but I still want the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine. That sounds really good. I like how the bass still maintains its thickness in the mix. Very nice jam too. Telecaster sizzle, wicked!

For my money, the Team Awesome is the all-around best-sounding fuzz I own, and I own a boatload. I don't even use the clean blend, mainly because it's a first-edition, where the clean blend is out of phase with the distortion, something he fixed on the second editions with a 5th knob... I also want a second-edition, if you can't guess, haha.
