Hey, I'm looking for some good examples of some really pretty bass lines like the one from "If" by RHCP. List any songs, artists, or videos. Thanks. |

That song to me is just extremely beautiful. And Vic's fretless work is perfect compliment and not overdone.. And the Jaco work with Jeff Coffin soloing over it is a nice compliment to one of the masters

| | | | oh by the way, I didnt really mention before but, I want like sorta simple stuff, riffs, licks, etc.. I'm not that interested in solos. Unless of course the bass beneath the solo is what youre talking about. Thanks again. |

If that is the case, I'd say listen to Pino Palladino. What comes to mind is "The One" by Elton John or "I Wish it Would Rain Down on Me" by Phil Collins. Also, I'm not sure if it was Pino or some other, but listen to "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. Now THAT'S pretty. |

I always wondered that, at least with Tears In Heaven. I remember that about that time Pino was credited to have worked with Clapton, and the fretless line in Tears In Heaven stands out so much that I assumed it was Pino, but it might not be. The fretless in that song almost sounds like a French Horn. Very pretty bass line that in my opinion makes the song, and it was a grammy winning cut. |

It's pretty simple, and isn't the same throughout the whole song, but it sounds pretty in a lot of places...at least to me.
