Just got this down earlier - I know it's a Wooten-esque slap groove with chords tapped on top - and believe me I can only just about play this as it's damn hard - but I think this has potential - apols for the odd blooper chord:

Hey Ian, thanks for the comments - I didn't get the email - PM me or drop me an email _ I may well be up for it, only trouble is it's the London Jazz Festival that week and I have free tickets to a load of shows and may clash but if I'm in the area I may well come by - otherwise it will have to be next time...let me know

What kind of bass did you use? | My trusty Thumb is still my slap machine, 26 frets mean tapping chords is pretty easy - in a sort of really hard technique kind of a way:

I only have 20 at the moment and feel pretty limited. Whenever I play chords and do that kind of stuff, I have to play them at the very top.
I dunno about that 5 string. I personally like 4 strings better for slapping and stuff. In my opinion, if I got a 5 string, I'd turn it into a fretless and use it for melody-work. |

Very tasty, indeed. A piece like that shows the world that a bassist is truly capable of supporting the melodic role as well as the fundamental / foundation.
Love the tone, playing, and composition. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing it with us.

But what the heck. I dig the vibe, and your sound is smooth. |

I think recording yourself playing is very helpful in finding the good and bad bits, the stuff you like, the stuff that sucks (there's a couple of bits on here) but I am writing more and more melodic stuff and using Cubase helps think spacially about the music and the role of the bass - I highly recommend it to any out there. I fully intend on getting those chords tapped as cleanly as possible - but it's frigging hard - I get a bit dizzy looking at my left hand then my right - but the album will be along soon - sometime next year... |

By the wat this is just the Warwick going direct - plus a little delay added afterwards - that bass has a really nice sound eh? |
