Program Used to slow a song down?

Sign in to disble this ad
I hope this is the right forum. Is there any freeware out there that can slow a song down but still retain the pitch? I could figure a lot of songs out by myself if i could do that! Also I've heard of all these things that can take out the guitar or bass or drums in a song and things like that. I know this thing isn't fee, but is it very expensive? And is there a freeware version like it? Kind of like GIMP but with sound?

Yup, audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

As a bonus, it can also change pitch. Great to transpose a song.

It can't take out the bass or drums though. It does have a bass boost feature.

Audacity can do that? And retain the pitch? Yay! I don't have to download anything!

Yup, select the part you want to slowdown. Or use Ctrl-A to select all.

Then Effect->Change Tempo

Change speed will affect pitch, but change tempo will not

Then just Undo to remove the tempo change.

While we're on the subject, is there a site where you can download tracks without certain instruments? Like a track minus the bass? It doesn't need to be a certain song, just one i can practice with. Sometimes i wonder if i'm hearing myself or the song, so I'd like to know it was me.
