Question about Blur's Song 2

My guitar teacher told me that the distorted sound on Blur's song 2 was on bass guitar. Is this true? And if so, what distortion would Alex James have used?

It is played on bass. Don't know about what kind of distortion, try looking up Alex James.

I did a looksie on the net.

He used a Marshall Shreadmaster bass distortion pedal through a 300W Ampeg SVT2 valve head...as quoted on this blog site at least:

Cheers,

The bass is distorted on Song 2. I just use by EBS Multidrive in Tube mode. Works just fine.
