Quick suggestion for recording device..

hello everyone,
can someone please recommend me a recording home system with professional quality?
I have a preamp and a effects pedal for Bass, and all I need now is a board, rack mountable, or a box, something, that connects to PC via FireWire in order not to loose ANY of the quality that this preamp and effects produce, if you know what I mean.
I got all the best cables, best pickus for the bass, everything and I'm trying to get the best direct sound possible (without an amp) to the PC. Of course, I don't want anything like 2000 dollars or something. I want something with real low end, and not like the ones I tried like Toneport and something like this. Does anyone have a suggestion?

look into the presonus firepod? they are cheap and rack mountable, 8 inputs i believe.

this presonus firepod seems to be more centered in microphone recording or is it just me? =(
and by the way, it doesn't have to be rack-mountable i would go for a non-rack version if the price is nice of course
