The #1 reason I will never recognize Metal bass (especially this style) is because that guy could have the fastest fingers in the world, on bass, and you'd never be able to hear it. Even when he's on video, you still can't match pitch variations to his fingering. It just sounds like rumbling.

I think we should all just start playing as fast as we can and stare down at our hands as we do it.

My thoughts exactly - if it actually grooved a little too - I actually think it would sound naff with a clean tone - anyway I know I've out-grown this sort of stuff - I was a big Slayer and Metallica fan - when they first appeared - now I'm an 'older' cynical music fan I don't appreciate this stuff much - sorry.

It's pretty quick, but far from what I would think "quickest fingers" would be.
Good stuff. Not my style or tastes, but good at what they do I guess.

Actually went back and watched it again.
It's fast, but nothing too bad.
There are a lot of guys here that can go that quick.

Not much my style either, but my guitarist likes em.

It's still pretty impressive.

I do - improvise that fast and it's impressive - learn a lick and repeat it until you can do it stupid quick and it's...just the same but fast, er, great.... - see Allan Holdsworth.

Oh yeah, but when Victor Wooten goes into some of his crazy double thumping at 600 miles an hour...it's WAY better.

I wish I could play half as fast as any of these guys!
