Here are some classics you might like.

Sons of Champlin - Loosen Up Naturally
Moby Grape - Listen My Friend
Jefferson Airplane Live - Bless its Pointed Little Head
Grateful Dead - Anthem of the Sun
Spirit - The 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus
Janis Joplin w/ Big Brother and the Holding Company
Country Joe and the Fish
Firesign Theater - Waiting for The Electrician or Someone Like Him
Lou Reed - Rock n Roll Animal (I know ...)
Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs and Englishmen
Fleetwood Mac - The Vintage Years ( killer jam record)

That should get you a pretty good contact buzz.

Bill Champlin came out with a new CD last year called
'Hip Little Things', and its got the Sons on it. I bought it
and its pretty funkin' good!

My personal QSM fave is Happy Trails. That is one AWESOME
recording!

RIP John Cippolina, thanks for the memories!

Gold and Siver was originally released on QSM

This was the first album from them I ever heard. Great
addition to any SF era collection.

The version you are talking about was on
Unreleased Quiksilver: Gold and Silver

Hot Tuna - Burgers would be my choice.

I played QSM to death. I can now hear John Cipollina's style a mile away when someone starts channeling him.

The first album had "Pride of Man" , written by actor Hamilton Camp. The live Happy Trails was another favorite. Even Fresh Air, with Dino Valenti (whom I think took the band down), has some really nice moments.

If anyone hasn't heard this before - John Cipollina was the only true electric guitarist in the whole San Francisco movement. Every one else was an acoustic player that switched. Cipollina never played acoustic. His rig is now in the Smithsonian.

I really dig Happy Trails but I started with the self title album, actually I started listening to them doing a cover of Dino's Song with an old band, and I really love that album

/QUOTE]

I dug when Valenti first rejoined[it was his band] he brought in some good songs, but I agree, his monster ego was the downfall of that band. The last couple times I saw them, they were terrible, even by my then young and naive standards.
