The style of music is called M-Base.

The band is Quite Sane.
Bass player,Composer,Producer Anthony Tidd calls his style of music "Ab-groove"

My opinion is, these guys and girls lay down a solid groove that's all over the place. A cross between Jazz, Hip Hop, Fusion, and Rap.

If your looking for something a little different, give this disc a spin.

yeah, this is good stuff, it's kind of like avant-garde jazz done right

that is, it isn't totally bonkers, but the rhythms and melodies and such are very bizzare, but it always grooves very well. So it's actually listen-able
