Racer X covers Godzilla

I have never heard of this band but I'm really impressed with this cover. It was recorded in 2001 somewhere. BUT, I am not impressed with the hired bass player, he simply isnt a bass player for this song which I feel is a very bass driven song (in my head the bass should have always been in very front of this song with guitar accents present when played) At one point the guitar player plugs into another bass and plays the bass solo, which isnt played right but whole song has numerous little changes in it. Other than the bass player, I feel it is a very well performed song and fine live recording.

Wow.. so the bassist isn't allowed to play the bass solo? Great. Shredders rule. Decent cover, but it doesn't cover the wankery of Paul Gilbert.

*chuckles*

The shredmeisters are at it again?

I was bored by them in the 80's, musical masterbation just doesn't do it for me. Give me a good groove, solidly in the pocket anyday.

Pretty much everyone after EVH, RR, YM, & SV were carbon copies IMO.

I can see why Juan Alderete is with The Mars Volta now and not those guys. He would have done a much better bass solo than Paul Gilbert.

I really like the distorted tone of the bass that the guitarist started playing to solo on. anyone know what it's running through, or how I could get that tone?

Man, I couldn't make it to the bass solo on that "rock it" song... that was unbearable!

We were listening to Racer X last night on the way to our country gig! "Godzilla" wasn't one of the tunes.
