Rap lyrics-where to find? Anybody to help?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,
I play with a jazz quartet, and we decided to transcript and play 2 recordings with a groovy feel.
The first is a beautiful version of Summertime by the pianist Jason Rebello from his album "Make it Real", and the other is a blues named "The Squirrel" by the group Bop City.
The problem is that we cannot understand all the rap lyrics.
I searched several sites like AZlyrics but i found nothing about.
Could anyone suggest me another site where i can find the lyrics?
I'm posting the parts containing rap of these 2 pieces, if someone is willing to help.
Any input wellcome.

You seem pretty desperate so I thought I would help. These are just my "transcriptions" from listening to them so they aren't perfect. I am pretty confident about the first one, but the second was a little harder to understand. All of the (?) were words I wasn't sure about.

Summertime

yawnin' wakeing up on a summers mornin'
draw back the shade and let the sun's light come on in
bumble bees buzzing on a quest
i wanna wear my vest
i need to put some muscle on my chest
hit the street
feel the warmth from the concrete under my feet
the towns crookin'(?), mid summer heat
sit back, relax, brother Max is in your ear
another tax years over, now the summers here
flying gnats, hot pants
the fresh circumstance of hot summer days
a new craze, call it a trend
I'll meet you at the pool, bring your friend
here's her name Jill
she got movement even when shes sitting quite still
I feel a trickle of sweat tickle my neck
when she comes you know I put some cool jazz on the deck
free up your mind, no fear
and don't you worry
when it's over we'll be back next year in the summer time

The Squirrel

yo
Marcus messiah garby(?) prophet in his time
when he dropped the speech the subject was the black star line
try to reach the public, but they was blind
he said lets take it back to Africa and to her own kind of time
to use your own mind and _______(?), instead of eatin' swine
brewin' in your hell, making uppers well for concept(?) that we couldn't grab
something like a yellow cab
roughers(?) getting treated bad, waver(?) for the days of my dad
so I blaze the bag 'cuz I'm crazy mad
release sting(?)
police tryin' to close my gate over in Fort Green
hit 'em up with 14(?)
'cuz I don't play like a sports team
law Jay(?), livin' with thoughts and _____(?)

I hope that helped.

That would be "Marcus Garvey" in the second line of "The Squirrel." I know nothing about rap but I know who Marcus Garvey is.
