your tone could be improved alot with better plucking technique, try hitting each note with the same strength as all the other.

First song I ever learned was Snowblind!
(Sounds good) |

| | | | i love hysteria, try to keep the rythm more steady by subdividing your counting and starting out really slow making every note even.

Focus on timing and accuracy of plucking. Do this by slowing down. Learn to play what you know at half pace, and pluck every note with as much accuracy, precision and tone as possible. Try to be aware of where your fingers are at all times. Know which note is played by which finger (fretting AND plucking hand), and most important, keep practicing |

| | | | +1 on timing and plucking strength. Instead of recording yourself playing such a fast song try something slower, groovier, and simpler. Something you can enjoy playing without forcing to play it. |

keep it up

| | | I like a fuller tone myself, this is too growly, but it fits what you're playing though. Through a decent amp it must sound pretty good |

I have been playing for about a year and a half, funny you and I are practicing the trooper LOL! I love that harris thing. I always mess up while recording, seems I put pressure on myself to play perfect and screw it all up.
I agree with timing, keep up the good work. Let me see if I can find my nuts and add a file on this thread of my playing............... |

Try recording directly over the original version, that will also help you with timing and consistent time.

Btw Im playing a yamaha attitude with very low action therefore the clicking sound. I play w the middle pick up, super growly tones, I have my mid max'ed in the eq too...
Anyways thanks for the comments. btw, i hav problem with the trooper a week ago until I switched to 3fingers, I just practise with the consistency and alot and what an investment. I can play faster than i could with 2fingers in a week already....i reckon everyone giv it a try |

When I started first playing bass I would play Our Lady Peace songs, as they have moving but simple bass lines that can be heard easily. I still play OLP to warm up. If you like their sound, I reccomend that as a great place to start learning songs.
Maybe not Spiritual Machines, but any of their other albums. Clumsy is great, you can get it at a record exchange place for 5$ anymore. |

Other than that I would say to not be afraid to slide around the frets because he does that alot on that song.
Sounds good though, you'll be a regular Flea/Claypool in 2 more months | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
