REAPER NOOB Question

hey guys: I just got my new Centrance Axeport Pro and with it came Reaper.
I was wondering what I should use to record basic stuff so for now that decision by the inclusion of this software. I installed it and opened it up but can't find a tutorial and I can't figure how to get sound to the track.I open the track and arm it but have nothing registering on the levels.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
