So, my father puts together an around the room music showcase (think Jools Holland) as a fundraiser every year. This year i got a couple of my friends(Erik on drums and Matt on guitar) that I jam with regularly and my friend Maia, who sings to do a little 4 song set, and it went over really well.

I thought up a fairly out there list, as we had 3 spots to play, 2 of which we did instrumental tunes: "hotentot" by John Scofield w/ Medeski Martin and Wood, and the other being our take on "so what" by Miles....a bit more influenced by the marcus version.

the middle set we did 2 songs with vocals, the Fugees influenced cover of "killing me softly" and the song "glory box" by Portishead.
....pretty eclectic list in my opinion.but anyway, a guy we knew recorded the Portishead tune, and i thought i would share it.
Nothing special on bass, but it does nicely display my 4 string R-bass.

If anyone knows how i can post the 15 minute rendition of "so what" please let me know. Thanks,

-Grady

Very good cover GK.

I've listen to your video many times. Your singer has lot of soul, and your drummer does a really good job. I love his "less is more".

Showed it to my band mates and we now think of doing this tune too.

Thanks for sharing this.

Nick
