I like listening to bands like Jamiroquai, Niacin, Attention Deficit etc. that has good bass lines in them and doesn't hurt my head in the morning.
I realized funky stuff like Jamiroquai makes my day, I can't have enough of them but they don't have unlimited albums so...
Also Massive Attack, Pink Floyd goes really well with the morning.
I'll take a listen to everything you recommend. Thank you.
ps: If there's a thread about morning bus ride album recommendation, I'm sorry as I don't have the time to search because of work.

Bookers new album, the road from memphis, is good too. not overawed by lou reeds contributions, but I'm not in it for mr. reed. oh. and mr. jones sings on this one.
Gotta get me the entire catalogue...
EDIT: Warning! soul content.
I sometimes get powered up in the morning listening to Kyuss. Try "Blues for the red sun" - it's a good 'un.

The Skints' new album (Part & Parcel) ranges from dub to rocksteady and has grime influences in there too, it's pretty fresh. Their first album is more reggae/punk if that's more your bag (a bit The Clash but more authentic on the reggae side). |

But if I liked reggae it would go perfect in the morning.

That's it, how come I didn't think of it. Radiohead would be perfect especially for rainy days. | OH My.... yes. yes they do. Try green machine, Nick has a bass solo.
Freedom run is a personal favourite... 50 million year trip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvhRqTnOTqc is an epic prog journey with a groove metal feel that utilizes the low end amiably. The guitarist from kyuss, josh homme (now in queens of the stone age), is known for using bass cabs & drop tunings for serious ballsy grind.
Should also recommend 'catamaran' and 'gardenia', from '...and the circus leaves town' and 'welcome to sky valley' respectively.
Scott Reeder plays some very interesting bass, pulling & pushing with ghost notes etc. and very good tone.
sorry... forgot odyssey ENJOY!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NHWF...eature=related
In the right mood, raidohead are a great choice... haven't listened to them properly in years.... well I need new material to learn, here goes!

Justin Hayward and Phil Lynott sing some parts and Herbie Flowers puts down some cool bass lines. Plus you get to hear War of the Worlds put to music ... if you like that sort of thing. |

Quite possibly the best Progressive Rock album of all time.
Top 5 for sure. |

Richard Sinclair has some pretty good basslines in the earlier stuff.

As far as "le classics," I'd spend a week doing Led Zep I-IV mon-thurs, houses of the holy on friday! www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rp2lnRjNh8
If i was going coffee shop mellow morning, I'd rock a mix of Fleet Foxes, Crosby Stills & Nash, and then sprinkle in some beatles and a dash of cat stevens(bitter blue, etc)...
Also, get Spiritualized Live at Royal Albert Music Hall. That double album (and most others by them) will get you going in the morning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6ZuSZGTTU0
Lastly, want to get the juices going and not overly hungover? Thee Oh Sees album Help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVRFss9GDv8
Happy travels. I wish I could take a bus/subway to work...
