Cool Recommend me some GOSPEL!

So I have recently been heavily exposed to gospel music, mainly through videos of "famous" drummers and bassists on Youtube (my first special encounter was Aaron Spears doing his thing on Modern Drummer festival.)

Where I come from, this kind of music is not exactly in the norm. Although to many musicians around here the musical style and playing-style is very much known and used quite frequently, some of us aren't necessarily all too familiar with the origins of things and or know of famous artists or kickass records we can check out.

Like I said, I was exposed to this kind of music through videos of performers on Youtube. I am very interested in performers often linked to the word "gospelchops". I find it to be really exciting and awesome, and I want to check out more, which leads me to my question:

Are there any essential gospel records or artists that you can easily recommend?
While I am most certainly able to enjoy anything you throw at me, I really get a kick out of sweet syncopated off-beat breaks and nasty-cool drum/bass/other instrument-fills, that sort of thing. Basically anything remotely "gospelchoppy".

To give you an example of what I mean, check out these two Youtube videos if you haven't already seen them:

Fred Hammond & Radical for Christ - from the Purpose by Design DVD

Andrew Gouche With Rev James Moore & The Mississippi Mass Choir - Lift Him Up

Also; I'm wondering about the "sub-genres" of this gospel stuff I'm hearing? I've heard terms like "shout", "praise", "worship"-music been thrown around, but I never really caught the essence of it.

Thanks!

Fred Hammond: Pages of Life - Chapters 1&2. This is a live 2 disc CD with Terrance Palmer on bass. When I heard this CD it blew me away!

I would recommend getting every Fred Hammond DVD. His CD's are awesome, but his DVDs are on another level. I have every one.

Also check out Isaiah Thomas' "The Greatest". Morgan Turner CRUSHES on that album.
