Hmm... the Cure tend to be miles away from SoM, soundwise. They did have a period where they had goth elements, but they have been very diverse as far as their sounds, styles, and influences, having gone through many phases... Can you be more descriptive about what you are looking for (and not looking for)? I may be able to help or at least point you in the right direction...

My fave cure albums are Pornography , Disentegration and Faith , The Cure song that best sums up the kind of stuff im into is Charlotte Sometimes. My favourite SOM album is First and Last and Always. Basically I like the kind of slightly lo fi sounding synthy kind of goth stuff on albums like Faith.

Have you ever heard the Glove? It's very trippy stuff. I love the chorus-y Bass VI on the first track, it's an extremely melodic bass line....

+1 for Bauhaus- that's THE original goth band. Also, check out This Mortal Coil.

Try Dead Can Dance's album Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun -- all the Bauhaus and New Model Army crowd used to listen to it in the Eighties.

For that matter, try New Model Army. They and Siouxsie are my favourites from the goth era.

Cheers
