Everything up to and including Signals is the best stuff. After that, well..they go in a really synthy direction. I lost interest in their music for a long time until Snakes and Arrows came out.

To a bassist, there are too much possible songs to reccomend. Today, i would go for 'Circumstances' from 'Hemispheres' album.

I don't know where this keyboard hate comes from. I really like all of their stuff, and their keyboard stuff really opened up a way different side and had some neat electronic elements in it. some very neat melodies and textures were had with it.

case in point:

listen to them all. amazing stuff, amazing melodies, amazing atmospheres and textures. Rush is just the perfect band, imo. not a super Rush nerd that goes to Rush-con, or w/e, I just feel they haven't made a bad album and their sound is all over the map. they are just wildly creative, and regardless of what era you listen to, they still sound like Rush. no idea how they freakin do it. also, Geddy has 3 brains...he's a beast. lol.

Any album/song up until "Moving Pictures" and your good to go. Not one bad song period! The earlier the better although their latest 'Snakes & Arrows" isn't bad. The new RUSH documentary DVD rules, a must see!

I didn't like Snakes, with the exception of Malignant Narcissism and far cry.
