I just watched "Zappa plays Zappa" DVD and was totally blown away by the music. Almost all songs have killer bass lines. I'm not familiar with Frank Zappa's music. Where should I start?

Must haves though are ', One Size Fits All, Joe's Garage, Sheik Yerbouti, the '88 tour albums, and The Yellow Shark (those who don't like chamber music can go jump off a duck! but in a nice, forum appropriate way).
That was in chronological order, btw. |

oh! oh! .... and Filmore East '71 ... and the "Does Humor Belong In Music?" video ... and ...
His autobiography is actually a really good read and it will add a lot of context to the listening experience.
Avoid Lumpy Gravy for a while, though

Overnight Sensation is another absolute classic.
"We're Only In It for the Money" and "Lumpy Gravy" and "Weasels Rip My Flesh" are classics from their era.
