Hi folks,
Wanted to direct folks to the music of a friend-of-a-friend of mine, a one-man recording band named Ed Batizu, and give him some serious props.
His stuff is probably mostly comparable to Zappa, but for me is hard to classify. Most of it has definitely got a comedy slant to it. The music tends to be funky/bluesy/weird, i.e., my taste. As a guy whose trying to write his own music I find it fun to listen to the combinations of styles he uses.
Ed (that's a pseudonym, by the way) has been creating recordings for about 25 years now (I think), and from my understanding is doing a lot of this on home gear -- he's clearly gotten really great at recording! I'm unsure of the stats but I think he's literally got 100s of songs that span the years.
I've been listening to them in my MP3 player / iTunes rotation since 2002, and have really enjoyed them.
Note I love the bass work on these (I think he does most of this, and did all of it for his last album). They're not super technical, and some may find them repetitive, but I find they do the job of supporting the tunes. I recommend the music more for its overall quality than as an example of unbelievable bass.
Also note that some of this content is
PG-13 and some maybe
R-rated. Also, political views are expressed, so be aware!

Hoping some day this guy moves to my locale so I can be his gigging bassist!!
Talk soon,
