To record or not record....

I have been throwing bass down on tacks and live for musicians in the midwest for the past year or so for little or no cost. Simply trying to build my portfolio and experience.

A friend of mine has recently given me a rough take for a song he is taking to a studio, which totally blows! like... I don't usually say this about any kind of music. It just does not sound good. I need some input as to whether I should suck it up and write a bass line and record it, or hold my pride and keep my name off of these credits. Let me know!!

If he's a friend, why NOT write something and play it for him?

You don't have to use it in your "portfolio," you could just do it to help a friend.
