Recording active Bass Vs.Passive

I've been Thinking of buying a Music Man StringRay for recording Bass. I've also been thinking of getting an American Fender J Bass, but I tend to like the sound of the StingRay somewhat better. However, I've heard many producers have a hard time getting Active Basses to 'sit' well in the mix. Has anyone here had similar problems recording Active Basses? Why is the above a problem and what is the remedy?

It's not a problem for me as a bassist - even when I switch back and forth between active and passive basses during a session. Nor is it a problem when I'm engineering and someone else is playing both active and passive basses during a session...

Where did you hear this? (My guess is that you read it in an online forum...)
