Recording Bass on a Boss Micro BR

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I am relatively new to the world of bass, and no less recording, and I am seeking some advice.
My band are in a position to 'home' record some demo's using a Boss Micro BR, but I am having trouble replicating the fuzzy bass tone I have during practice on the Boss Micro BR as we are going down the multitrack route using the Instrument In input as opposed to a live recording - even on drums using an electronic kit - due lack of mic's.

As the Micro BR can handle direct instrument in, I initially set up as:
Bass --> EH Big Muff --> Micro BR
However this gives me a LOT of fuzz and and not much tone/low end on the recording - and sounds a mess to be perfectly honest.
Adjusting the Big Muff's tone/sustain settings also didn't do much for the low end.
The BR's on board COSM effects also don't have much low end, I guess because the BR is geared towards our 6-string friends.

I have an Orange Crush practice amp and was wondering if the Headphone Out jack on this could be used using either the Instrument In or Stereo In on the BR in order to catch the low end?
I would look at setting up as follows:
Bass --> EH Big Muff --> Amp Input --> Headphone Out --> Micro BR

Any advice you could offer would be great
