a colleague of mine wants me to think and record a bassline, a melody that goes with a piano part and then it can be used alone with vocals. it's probably 20 to 35 seconds of music but it requires some analysis of the song and the chords. she keeps asking how much will it cost. both of us have no idea how much i should be paid because i am a gigging bassist and she is a dj. how much should i ask?

i live in greece the girl is currently writing an album in hopes of finding sponsors or a record label, she need a bassline to go over a piano melody. the bassline should be able to stand later in the song with a vocal line
If the bass line is independent of the keyboard and vocal melody I'd suggest writing credit and no fee. This is based on the total situation. Also it'd be nice to have a shot at laying down the "real" track if a deal gets done. The experience will be far more valuable to you than a few bucks in your pocket.
