Recording on mac

hey people...i would like to record on a mac and put it on youtube... i have a focusrite saffire interface so im all sorted there...
do i use i movie?...are there any good tutorials of a step by step guide for the Mac...

do i need an external camera?

imovie will work, and you can use an external camera if you'd like, for higher quality, but the built in camera will do as well.
I can't offer any tips on the process, as I'm just working with a new mac set up myself.
Maybe this can turn into a bit of a mac chat/support thread.

Have to chuckle... I had my new iMac for several months before I even REALIZED it had iMovie on it...

I've played with iMovie a ton since, and yeah, you're exactly right... you can pretty much do a production just by dragging and dropping. It's a BLAST!!!

I was a little apprehensive about posting stuff on YouTube, as my first three little projects "borrowed" some popular songs as the backing music. However, they are all my original shot video footage. No copywright problems there!
