Recording NOOB

If this is in the wrong place, or has been covered to death already please inform me.
It's been about four years since I did any recording, and I didn't like it then, it gave me a lot of stress.
This time around I am a better player, have a lot more gigs under my belt, and have better control over my nerves as a result.
What can I do to make this recording as painless as possible for me? I really just want to go in and kill it, then spend the rest of the session chilling.
What's worked for some of y'all?
Got advice for a recording NOOB?

Relax and go in and Kill it. You have to be confident and go for it - it will come out in your playing. Make sure your gear is ready.

If you have a 8 track or any small multi-track and can practice jamming over the changes to the songs you are going to record just to get into playing and listening back to what works. I think being prepared is half of it and relaxing and going for it is the other.
