Recording Questions

Ok, we're planning on recording some stuff this weekend. I was wondering if this setup will work very well.

We will be using a firepod going into a Macbook, using Garage Band as the recording software.

Guitar 1 - Mic the cab (all tube head, that's why he wants it miced. Peavey Classic 50 410)

Guitar 2 - Mic or DI (Line 6 single 12 inch speaker)

Mandolin - probably DI

Bass - DI

Drums - Mic on kick, snare, toms, high hat, and cymbals, all going to it's own board, then into a single input on the Firepod

We were going to record all in one take, everyone play the song at the same time. I guess you would call it a live recording.

We play 70ish sounding rock.

I'll post a link to the clips when we get done so you can check it out.

Thanks

It sounds good so far, I just hope you have some nice preamps or something. But other than that, it should be smooth sailing.

I thought the Firepod had a preamp on it.

I would drop some of the drum mics. A single overhead + a kickdrum mic will give you excellent results and make the whole process a lot easier.
