Rumor-mill Alert: It was actually Carol Kaye playin' the Fender Bass on those Rush recordings...

I've never owned a Rick, though I always wanted one way back when...they just looked cool!
And the whole time I'm reading this thread, I'm thinking "Roger Glover, Roger Glover" & BAM!, Gweim nailed it.
Mike Mesaros of The Smithereens plays one(FWIW).

Fact: A friend of mine(a keyboardist that also plays guitar/drums/bass)is now playin' bass in a '60s/'70s-esque "Beatle-ish" cover band...he's a retro-geek from Hell; he's toting a '60s P-bass, an early Dan Electro Longhorn, & a Ric, all played with a pick thru an old Vox amp. Truthfully, I closed my eyes & could not hear any difference!

Cliff's Ric had a Gibson Sidewinder (EB-0/3 pup) in the neck and I am trying to confirm if he had a Jazz pup at the bridge or not. Haven't been able to google up a clean enough image to know for sure.
