Recording software *free*

Hey guys I am wanting to record a few instruments solo and plan to throw them together to make a song. Any ideas for free software?

I'm using Reaper by Cockos. There's some limitations on the 'free' usage, but it's a non-restricted, never-expiring version. Worth a look: http://www.cockos.com/reaper/
