Recording vid/audio on Macbook Pro

Hi gang, I'm looking to record some simple bass videos for YouTube and the like.

Usually, my DAW is Logic 9 with GarageBand for simple stuff.

What do folks use in OS X for recording vids thru a webcam... iMovie? FaceTime?

Also, I'd like to be able to simultaneously capture audio in the DAW so I can do simple compression, reverb etc. Has anyone here done bass vids and post-edited the audio track in a DAW? Am I complicating things too much? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a noob to this.

I'm using 10.7 and have iMovie if that's relevant.

I forgot to mention I'm using a simple lexicon alpha USB interface.

Quicktime also works just fine - you should be able to select your input device as the audio source under "preferences". I have done this using a presonus firebox. The iSight cam built-in is limited (low res/small chip) but do-able.

Ahhh, I didn't know qt supported iSight/webcam recording. Thanks for the tip. I'm used to the old days of the qt/qt pro disparity where the regular qt was just a player.
