Is this recording worth it?
So my band have been experimenting with recording the rapidly expanding list of tracks we've been writing lately, we are all first year university students and naturally cash is tight. Recently we were offered free recording courtesy of some audio engineering students and left with two raw tracks. This is one of the raw virtually untouched tracks, my question is - is it worth paying someone (around $200) to master/clean this up? My main concern is the kit had ancient skins on it and sounds pretty dead... I don't even know if its possible to fix and it would be nice to avoid throwing cash around. Should we just ditch it and come out of this with a good learning experience?
Any input would be greatly appreciated please don't hesitate pointing out flaws.
Here's the rough track - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/.../pba%20TSM.mp3
Well, we went ahead and got it cleaned up for the sake of using it as a demo... The drums were in pretty bad shape and nearly inaudible but it polished up ok overall. If anyone's interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUoam6g8VyM
