Records featuring 5-string...

...that's tuned with high C rather than low B?

I recently started experimenting with a C string on the Axstar, and I really like having the added upper range. It'd be nice to hear what better players than I have done with that range, to give me some ideas of places to take it.

Anything by Matt Garrison, Tony Grey, Hadrian Feraud and Janek Gwizdala-who is a TB'r and has his own forum in the "Ask The Pro's" section.
And he pretty much answers back pretty quick if you post up a question.
Granted these guys are monster players in the jazz scene.

I would also check out 6 string guys as well. They're going up in that same range.....

I thought Hadrien tuned B-G only.

Charnett Moffett.

...I'm thinking Net Man, IIRC.

Did Charles Fambrough play EADGC when he played EB?

Low B in this one and the others I've seen. But maybe he switches around.

Hadrien mostly tunes B-G. He does do E-C occasionally though.

Thank you! That was lovely. That sort of thing is exactly why I switched to 5 E-C - I want to be able to play unaccompanied music that's more like what one would expect from a guitarist, but is set in a slightly extended bass range. It's great to hear someone who's (a lot) better than me playing that way.

Do you have a particular maker in mind yet for your custom 5? I'll be interested to know how that goes - my 5-string made the transition really well (I was lucky and didn't even have to replace the nut), but I imagine that an instrument specifically designed for E-C would be better.

Too kind sir, too kind~

I don't have a maker in mind, just feel like it would make a difference, I'm not sure exactly what dimensions would vary, but I'm sure in some way it'd be better.
