Remember the days???

Sign in to disble this ad
I was just thinking about the first day I picked up a bass guitar. My face glowing, but fingers having no idea what to do with it. I remember my taste of music then too and the first songs that I wanted to learn how to play. (not that I like these songs now, in HS it was a different story)

Carousel - Blink 182
Rearranged - Limp Bizkit (SP?)
Smoke on the water

and songs like that were what I started on.

What songs do you guys think are beginner classics? And what songs were you guys itching to learn when you first started playing bass?

The first song I learned was Black Sabbath, then Feel Good Inc. It had just come out.

"Those were the days, yes they were. Those were the days. Those were the ways, miracles everywhere. Where are they now? They're gone!" Cream

Speaking of Cream, I'm fairly certain Sunshine Of Your Love was the first thing I could play on a bass.

I'm pretty sure Money was second

Haha.. When i started reading i thought i was gonna read some story about the motown scene in the 40-50's but then i saw "Blink 182" i felt a shooting pain down my left arm.

Anyway.
Oh man i hope you guys remember the avkward moment of choosing a bass!? When the guy that works there asks (or sais; "here try it") if you want to try it and you don't know what to do so you like pluck a open string :P

When i got home i wanted to learn;
Black Sabbath - NIB/Electric Funeral/Solitude/Sweet Leaf. (and so on)
Led Zeppelin - Dazed & Confuzed/Moby Dick.
Type O Negative - Black. (The only one i learned right :P)

My music taste has evolved quite a bit sens then. I was a strickt "Metal/70's Metal/70's Hardrock"-head back then but it got boring so i forced my self to listen to funk and that evolved into jazz later on.
