Hi everybody.
A recent thread about 70's funk-disco bass tone reminded me of this recording, which I used to listen a lot when I was a kid. Maybe some of you already know it, so you can give me the info I'm looking for with no need to download. This is Henry Mancini's version of Baretta's theme (Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow) from a 1977 LP called "The Cop Show Themes". My questions are about the long bass intro. I mean:
What is that? Is it a bass played with a pick? Slap bass with rolled-off treble?
Is that a bass? Does anybody know who's the player or maybe recognize his/her style? To me, this is a very unique playing which is very hard to replicate and just want to have some lights on such an obscure recording and unknown player. The YouSendIt link below will allow you to download the full tune, transferred to digital by myself from the original LP. Hope you enjoy it if never heard it.
