Richard Bona's "Ba Senge"

Was anybody else shocked to read that he used his '66 Jazz to track "Ba Senge"?

I can typically identify instruments by listening to them, and I even had previous knowledge of his typical bass arsenal, and I never would have guessed a '66 Jazz. That tone is incredible!!!!

Thoughts?
