the band i play in recorded a few songs with a quickness. i've been struggling to find a good bass sound that comes across well on tape (or whatever).
tell me what you think: myspace.com/zilimisik (the song 'faareyah'). it's an sxsjb75 going thru a behringer bdI21 with the drive turned up.

thankew.

Not really a huge fan of the music but the bass playing is pretty sweet You should just turn up a bit... that song is definetly bass driven (Twa Fey).

In Farreyah, the bass tone seems kinda dirty... I think a smoother/cleaner tone would fit better there... what strings do you use?

i think i have some roto rounds on there. the grit comes from the bdl21, i believe. i turned the drive up to see how it would sound.

your playing is really effective but your not cutting through on that recording, not enough. You need more grit. I wonder if those rotosunds are serving you well. Wish I could help more. Like the tune though.

p.s. Have you tried a P bass in the same setting?
