Rip me to shreds.........

go ahead...rip me to shreads, but here's some of my playing at home. a little lengthy, a little boring due to repetition, but when I practice at home I just I like to just let the cd recorder record the drum machine and me, so I get a bit repetitive coming up with/working on ideas. but here's me...

I wouldn't worry about the repeativeness factor especially since there are no no clips to listen to.

How can you expect to have a new one ripped if you don't even have a clip to scrutinize.

sounds great tonewise and riff wise ....i know you go off on some variations later on but my natural instinct is to keep the riff but put some high neck fills in every other bar or so to lift it up ..and then do something totally off the wall !! and then back on it again......but you have got a good groove no doubt.

thanks. it was just straight into the drum machine with my hot rodded 82 fender P bass and the into the stereo for recording. like I said, i just like to let the recorder run when I'm practicing and that riff popped out for that drum line.

listening now.....

the beat got away from you a tad at a couple spots... but I like it!.
I can hear a tune wrote around that for sure.

The bass could use some EQ and compression... it's lacking a little definition, but is a killer tone considering the method of recording! What pickups do you have in that one?

I Like it alot actually. The tone could be a TAD more defined to suit my tastes, but i think its a good definition of balls.

Sounds like you're a great player but that tone could use some work.

Lots of rumbling and not much definition, though from what I can hear you've got a cool groove happening.

Hi James, how have you been?

the first and the 3rd song is a P bass with Bartolini.
the second song, I'm pretty sure anyway, is my purple Gecko with Bartolinis.
Aggy OBP-1 in each bass.
I definitely lost the beat in a couple of spots first 2 recordings were on the fly, 3rd one I wrote about 18 years ago and adjusted it a bit. I think I used a guitar sound on that one with a heavy chorus.
Thanks for the kind comments.

tone wasn't really the point of the recording. I just try to record when I pick up the bass, otherwise I forget what the hell I play. I usually can't remember for the life of me.

Good Thanks, I'm going to my first summer gathering today... some how that got me thinking of your sausage and peppers from the GTG last year too bad my mother-in-law keeps feeding us her latest "Eatin' Channel" recipes.

My comments were on the first one specifically, the others were cool too. The Bart P... is that the 8s? It sounds good.

Volume was bad on the connection and had I to listen through some crappy laptop speakers but it sounded like a pretty cool groove to me.

Good lines. Keep playing it hard until you can play it perfectly in time. It shows a bit on some parts that its a bit fast for you, but you'll get the hang of it real fast.

yep. I am pretty sure that the tempo was around 144 bpm, which is pretty quick.
it certainlyt wasn't meant to be perfect, it was just to give my fellow TBers an idea of what goes on in my head.
thanks
