More biased toward the jazz fusion side but I would heartilly recommend a listen to Uzeb. My choice would be World Tour 90

Alain Caron is a monster on this album and the other guys (Michel Cusson (guitars) and Paul Brochu (drums) aren't slouches either).

I swear I didn't know there were so many of these bands around.

It's actually been inspiring to see all your responses for these many bands around.

Mark Leonard, where is this guy now? He plays the sh*t out of a P-bass on that!

Pat's a real special case. If you're not familiar with his story you should read up on him. The guy is a pure inspiration to musicians for sure.

YES!!
Larry Young was an organist, and supplied all the bass with his feet. So, there's no actual bassist on the recording (that would come on the next project, when they added Jack Bruce).
But Young's basslines groove, and the overall music is not only scary, but also ugly, eerie and totally amazing. It's from the very early fusion period (1969, I believe) before the music got wanky and/or cutesy.
Not to be missed.

A little off topic here but, Pat Martino and Larry Young where/are two of the deepest cats ever on their respective instruments!

How about Bozzio, Levin, Stevens? Hard to categorize, but close enough for this thread.
Sorry, but I love Levin's playing :-)
