Here's two I think I don't see mentioned very often around here:
Ween: Joppa Road (not sure if Dean or some session guy played it)
Faith No More: Kindergarten |

| | | | "Scorpio" by the Dennis Coffey Detroit Guitar Band...the tune is about 3:30 long w/ about 2 minutes of bass solo by Bob Babbitt.
"Scorpio" was a Top-40 hit back in the early '70s...maybe even a Top-20 hit.
"Cut The Cake" by AWB has a bass solo/break, too...again, a Top-20 hit from the mid-'70s.
"I Was Made To Love Her"-Stevie Wonder...Jamerson has a 4-bar solo/break(even though the whole tune is one big bass solo).
"Do I Do"-Stevie Wonder. Nathan Watts has an extended solo/break.

A) Devo is awesome... people who hide after mentioning are part of the problem, not the solution.
B) Bass solo in whip it?

i'm talking about the part when it's only the bass playing a variation on the main riff. and the keys are just hitting one note. IIRC it's right before the last verse of the tune. it's not much of a solo as much as a breakdown. but whatever.
btw, i like devo too

| | | | The Offspring- bad habit. The bass in the introduction is so simple, yet sounds so good. Another one is Defy you (also by The Offspring). |
