I always hated this song back in the day, mostly because it was played to death on the radio then. But, I just heard it at work last night for the first time in ages, and I was reminded of just how fantastic the bass playing is on that track. Drenched in thick, thick chorus and pushed to the very front of the mix. You just gotta love that!

Was that indeed Phil Chen on that track? The playing is superb.

Hmmm. I was thinking of this very song today. Fond memories of that era, I wasn't even interested in being a musician / bass player then, but loved how that song sounded.

.... did a search and all I could find was that Phil Chen "wrote" the bass line for the song, but did he "play" it in the studio?

....anyone?

I love how the bass makes the song. Makes it move. Brilliant.
