Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers

Here's a band I haven't seen mentioned on here. Roger Clyne and the Peacemaker's new album "No More Beautiful World" came out this week. Another great effort from one of my favorite bands. I've been a fan since I discovered The Refreshments (two members previous band). Great songs and a great live band! Any other fans out there in the talkbass universe? If you want to check them out, it is www.azpeacemakers.com

Cool to see there are some RCPM fans on here...

I was lucky enough to have grown up in AZ, and saw the Refreshments come and go, and then the Peacemakers start up their beautiful thing. (Not to mention the Gin Blossoms, Dead Hot Workshop, and Gloritone - all those bands had some ties with Roger at some time or another)

First time I saw the Refreshments play, I was working security at the time... and we did a Johnny Cash show at a small country bar in the Phoenix area. The Refreshments opened up the show, and what a memorable show that was for me... I loved all their songs instantly (Girlie was the one that I remember the most from that night), and Johnny Cash was of course amazing as well.

Forgot that they put out a new album... I was thinking of pre-order, but it slipped my mind... Thanks for the reminder!

Don't think I've seen them mentioned here before, you're right. I've been a follower since The Refreshments came out with "Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big and Buzzy". Roger is just a fantastic songwriter (IMO one of the best out there today), and he captures such a great story in his work. This seems to be a lost skill with most rock bands these days.

I put him right there with John Hiatt, maybe Jimmy Buffet (as far as telling a story goes)

Hey NOLA, RCPM are playing the Parish Room at the HOB on August 3. Let me know if you think you'd make this show. I should be down there, and it's always cool to meet other TBers.
